My first impression of Chanel when I first met her years ago, was that she was totally ethereal. As I came to know her more deeply an earthy, sturdiness presented. Her drawings are so obviously an extension of her person. Intimate, inspired works that are full of emotion and expression and yet grounded in pigment and a second - nature skill that comes only from years of dedication to her art form. Like breathing, for Chanel drawing looks effortless. The unions she creates with colours are a joyful surpris e. I find myself looking at her works and thinking, "of course... that line and those colours are simply meant to be together, exactly so". For Chanel these works are an expression and attempt at understanding her surroundings. I feel I understand more, t hanks to Chanel's work.
