In 2018, I was sent on assignment by Guardian Australia to Kurri Kurri, NSW, to document the inaugural Mullet fest in the Hunter region. When Josiah, a bright-eyed blonde from Country NSW posed for this photograph, he looked at me with an air of teenage vulnerability, mixed with pride. He represents the revival of the mullet and the subculture of aficionados.
